Chez Davia

I had really high hopes for Chez Davia, as it’s featured in the Michelin Guide and reviews rave about the rustic dishes. I did not make a reservation but arrived promptly at 7:30 PM. Ambiance: The tables are quite close, especially if you’re seated outside. This place is pretty no-frills and the decor is a bit dated, but it has a certain French charm to it. Service: Service was fair. I did have to ask for a glass and utensils, but they were friendly. They do get quite busy as they are quite popular, so I get it. Food: Terribly bland unfortunately. I did the 3-course prix fixe meal and left quite hungry if I’m being honest. I would recommend ordering 1-2 more dishes to share for 2+ people. There was simply nothing remarkable about anything I ate. I may not have enjoyed my experience, but I would not persuade you to not visit. They are decorated with awards for a reason. If anything, I would not suggested the fixed meal and chose options off their menu.

Found this place through Bib gourmand / Michelin so we had some expectations. We booked last minute online which went smoothly. It took a long time before someone took our orders (and drinks - usually should be fast), around 25 mins after we sat down. Appetizer arrived fairly quick but it took 30 mins after the mains arrived. We also heard other tables complaining about this. Food we ordered were ok - actually had good potential but ended up not very remarkable. We paid the bill and they had to run after us since they calculated and charge us the total amount wrong. This was ok since it seems like they do things manually.

Warm staff and setting, with a typical bistro setting of wooden tables and chairs. Open kitchen that allows the action to be seen. Food was select and unique in it the format and taste. We had legume Farcis, Linguine Pistou and Supions en friture. Wine selection is decent and well priced. We were not impressed by the fruit flies inside the restaurant ravishing and flying in dozens. We understand that it is summer and an open space. However a Michelin starred outfit should not have a fruit fly scene. I am sure they will take care of it. Overall, I will be back.
